A signature program of the Invent Penn State initiative, the Fund for Innovation aims to de-risk and accelerate the development of Penn State’s commercially promising research for the purposes of licensing or venture formation. The program is a collaboration between Invent Penn State, the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research, and the academic colleges. Since its founding, the program has supported more than 50 emerging Penn State technologies, resulting in 11 new ventures.
“Although many universities have commercialization programs, the speed and volume of success that Penn State has experienced is unique.”
Senior Vice President for Research
During the commercialization process, numerous Penn State administrative units and community collaborators provide mentorship, advisement and entrepreneurship training.
The Fund for Innovation has provided startup funding to many promising new ventures that were born out of the program, and the list is still growing.
